Charmaine Farrugia, Consultant and Company Director

Charmaine has a strong track record in securing EU grants, statutory contracts and local and national partnerships. With an MA in Youth and Community Work, Charmaine has 15 years’ local authority and 10 years’ voluntary sector delivery experience. Charmaine’s specialist knowledge in data management and outcome reporting is of tremendous value to many of the charities we work with. Charmaine’s background as a social worker and her extensive youth work experience means she brings unique understanding of and insights into the challenges young people face, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds. Charmaine often leads on client projects requiring grant writing, fundraising audits, and cross-organisational impact assessment and training.

Ethan Kuhn, Consultant and Company Director

Ethan has led international fundraising programmes for charities in the US and UK, with a particular focus on educational and religious charities. Prior to joining FCL, Ethan saw a small American independent school through its first major capital fundraising campaign as campaign manager, launched the school’s international giving programme, and directed the Annual Fund and alumni programming. Ethan later served as a Director of Development at the University of Oxford, focusing on global major donors during the University’s £3.3 billion Oxford Thinking campaign. Ethan often leads on clients projects focusing on fundraising strategy, international fundraising, and major donors. Ethan is currently pursuing a part-time master’s degree in Social Innovation at the University of Cambridge Judge Business School.

Lindy Burleigh, Trust Fundraising Specialist

Lindy is a trusts and foundations specialist, with 16 years of professional fundraising experience. After a career in publishing, she chose to put her writing and communication skills to use in the not-for-profit sector.

Lindy started off with the literacy charity, Beanstalk, and went on to raise funds for a range of charities. In her last role as Senior Philanthropy Manager, Lindy led the trusts and foundations strategy and function at a women’s health charity, Wellbeing of Women, and worked with a portfolio of trusts and foundations – including the Garfield Weston Foundation, the James Tudor Foundation and the Burdett Trust for Nursing – to deliver improvements in women’s healthcare through funding medical research projects, education and training.

Previously, Lindy was Senior Development Manager at the National Army Museum and worked on a capital appeal to refurbish and update the museum. She established a trust fundraising income stream from scratch, securing six-figure grants from the City Bridge Trust, the Esmee Fairbairn Foundation and the Foyle Foundation. Lindy’s interest is in building long-term relationships with trusts and foundations to achieve sustainable income for not-for-profit organisations.

Allison Dufosee, Consultant

With a proven track record in executive leadership and change management, Allison has consistently driven success and growth within organisations. She has played a pivotal role in securing new fundraising opportunities, expanding corporate relationships, and leading the development of a global corporate fundraising strategy focused on ROI. Her leadership in the sector has resulted in substantial revenue generation from corporate donors, trusts, foundations, and high-net-worth individuals, consistently exceeding yearly targets.

As a seasoned professional, she excels in team building, donor stewardship, and regulatory compliance while building successful, happy teams and fostering a culture of continuous collaboration. Her career spans key roles such as Chief Executive Officer at World Bicycle Relief UK and Director of Fundraising, Marketing & Communications, where she consistently delivered on ambitious fundraising campaigns and capital projects.

Stephen Hudd, Consultant

Having spent over twenty five years in the sector, Stephen is a highly experienced Charity & NGO Fundraising, Marketing and Communications leader and consultant; mostly in Director of Fundraising and interim Director of Fundraising roles. His successes have encompassed substantial amounts of strategy-focused and hands-on work for small, medium and larger charities.

He has significant achievements in strategy development; trusts and foundations; major donors; corporate partnerships; individual giving; legacies; events; bid strategy and management, including partner negotiations and contracts; and UK and international government contracts/tenders and grants.

Julie Johnson, Consultant

Julie is an experienced charity manager with a wealth of experience, strategic and practical in the third sector. She is a specialist in managing and developing teams and training across all fundraising streams. Her track record in introducing new and innovative initiatives to maximise voluntary income, including highly successful events programmes, volunteer recruitment and cross functional working, break down silos.

She has particular expertise in legacy fundraising, devising strategy, implementing practically and developing the best supporter experience.
